Sam
Yes, I know that we just entered October, the oficial Fall month. But, I must say it's one of my favourite months to go to the beach or take a dive in the pool - in my case the latest because I'm not in Portugal, so I guess I have to stick to the pool - not complaining though!
Although it's hot in New Orleans for approximately...10 months in a year, the last years I lived in Portugal I always got the most fabulous beach days in September and October - in my case Guincho (a wonderful beach in my hometown) days..ohh how I miss it!
So I decided to present you a famous beverage that fits perfectly in this out-of-season hot weather: a piña collada smoothie! Who doesn't love the classic combo of pineapple and coconut?
The recipe is HERE (exclusive for the website and sorry, only available in Portuguese, so please use Google translate to get it in your language)
And now I'm going to take a dive int he pool, so bye for now!
Hope you like it!

Prefiro explicar tudo respondendo a algumas perguntas:
1. não estamos habituadas a ter um ser a sugar seja o que for das nossas maminhas;

Sim!
Conseguem adivinar o ingredientes chave?

I remember as kid, one of my favourite meals to take on a day at the beach was a delicious tuna sandwich! Who doesn't love that classic flavour? Canned tuna, mayo, some olives and onions on a crispy fresh piece of bread. Aww...how I miss a big day at the beach with tuna sandwiches between my dives.
The diference between this recipe and the classic one? This one is 100% plant-based! Yep! It doesn't have any tuna.

Although I'm taking my pre-natal vitamins every single day, I know that those aren't enough to nourish both (mine and baby's) bodies, and even if before being pregnant I was very cautious with what I was eating, now, I'm even more!
Unfortunately I'm not doing IF anymore, for obvious reasons, but somehow, all those months doing it and practicing the art of (not) feeling hungry helped me a lot with my cravings during pregnancy.
I keep doing what I always did - eating when I'm hungry - the difference is now I'm hungry more often - and trust me, it's real hunger, not cravings! Instead of eating 3 meals a day I'm currently eating 4, sometimes 5 meals a day (I split my breakfast in two and sometimes I do a midnight snack).
Because of the space that baby Thomas is taking inside my belly, I feel full much easier, so I have to split my meals - specially in the morning.
After drinking a huge glass of water, I always start with a smoothie! Usually green, but it depends on what I have in hand and what I fancy.
This smoothie was specially created for the pregnant ladies out there. Calm down, you can still drink it if you're not pregnant, but the ingredients I choose were carefully selected to fulfil all the vitamins and minerals we need during our pregnancy.
I know a lot of you aren't big fans os beets, but they are kind of the main ingredient here. So I guess you just have to learn how to like it!
Just think of the wonders it'll do for you and your baby! :)
Ingredients
2 small organic beets
1 small apple
5 small strawberries
3 tbs hemp seeds
250ml water
blueberries (optional as a topping)
* if you want to upgrade the protein content you can add 1 scoop of your favourite plant-based protein powder (I would recommend a berry or vanilla flavour)
What you get from this powerful smoothie:
Manganese (100%)
Magnesium (65%)
Folate (folic acid) (46%)
Vitamin C (51%)
Phosphorus (47%)
Copper (35%)
Zinc (32%)
Iron (21%)
Omega 3 (77%)
Fibre (38%)
Enjoy!
Love,
Sam
Vitamina C (51%)
Fósforo (47%)
Cobre (35%)
Zinco (32%)
Ferro (21%)
Ómega 3 (77%)
Fibra (38%)

Although I've never been to Asia, Thailand is definitely on my top 10 destination list! Not only for the wonderful beaches and culture, but also for the amazing and delicious food.
If there is a comfort food that definitely stop my hunger and cravings, that is Pad Thai! This has been my staple dish for the last couple months and I probably eat it twice a week! It's delicious, and although it has a bad reputation in the world of healthy food (well, some pad thai takeout is definitely not healthy), if you do it the right way, I can guarantee that you will definitely have a healthy dish for the whole family!
Ingredients for 2
1/2 diced red or green bell pepper
1 medium sliced white onion
1/4 finely chopped white cabbage
3 shredded carrot
3 sliced spring onions
1 hand full of chopped coriander
300g brown rice noodles
1 tbs coconut oil (for cooking)
200g tofu
Sauce
3 medjool dates
4 tbs tamari
1 tbs shriracha (you can add more or less depending on the spicy level)
1 garlic clove
1 tbs tamarind paste
Toppings
Lime juice
crushed peanuts
1. For the sauce: add the pitted medjool dates into a blender, add the tamari, shriracha, tamarind paste, garlic clove and water. Blend until smooth and set aside.
2. Prep all the veggies first to speed up the process. Sauté the onions in a pan with some olive oil. Add the cabbage, the carrot and the red bell pepper.
3. Add the sauce into the veggies and mix. Add the coriander and spring onions.
4. Cut the tofu into cubes and sauté in a pan with some coconut oil and tamari sauce until golden brown.
5. Cook the noodles for 8 minutes in boiling water. Drain the water and wash the noodles in cold water until they are loose. Add them to the veggies and mix evenly until fully coated.
6. Serve with the tofu, some lime wedges, crushed peanuts and some extra sliced spring onions.
Now that I gave you the big news about my pregnancy, I have received a lot of messages asking if I'm still doing a plant-based diet.
I've already shared a post here about my diet changes - you can read everything here - and the importance that I give to balance, far away from radicalisms and major restrictions.
There are a lot of people that still think I'm a radical, although I only adopt a 90% to 95% plant-based diet. But, the thing is I didn't make this changes to prove myself to anyone - I did what my body was asking for - I reduced drastically my animal protein intake - and when I say drastically I mean: I don't buy any meat or fish to cook in my house. I avoid meat and I eat fish about 2 to 3 times per month, and giving the fact that fish here is not the best thing ever, I only eat fresh cod fish and wild caught salmon - every once in a while. I buy organic eggs for my husband, and, I must have eaten it once or twice since I got pregnant. I still buy some goat or sheep cheese to sprinkle on salads or omelettes - besides that we gave up dairy in our home.
I really don't know if I will ever going to change my diet again, like I said, my mindset is focusing on what my body needs and asks for, and right now I would say my diet is pretty much ideal, for me of course - once again no radical cuts, no counting calories and portions I eat what I want, the portion size I feel like and I feel great about it.
I share with you some examples of what my typical everyday meals look like - a lot of colour, a lot of greens and a lote of fibre (greens, beans, legumes), this one being essential for a healthy gut and bowl movements during pregnancy - and of course, a lot of water to help to flush everything out.
On my next post I will share my first trimester with you - morning sickness, little tricks to deal with that, symptoms that I had during the longest 3 months of my life.
Until then I would like to know if anyone out there ir expecting? Any new mamas or moms to be out there? Let me know your thoughts, tricks and questions!
you can send me an email, that way I'll be able to catch up with all of you!
thank you for being there!
Love,
Sam
Love,

I guess I never told you - and this is definitely getting a little bit more personal here, so if you don't want to know anything about pregnancy details or emotional stuff , I suggest you choose another blog post - but after my sad episode on my last pregnancy, I decided to give it a time out for a few months just to let my head and body rest from all the stress and emotional roller coaster I've gone through. I decided to stay away from all the anxiety that grows upon every women that want to have a baby and let the Summer pass until I give it another try. And I must say - if you're going through some similar episode - I suggest you do the same. There's nothing better than a little time to ourselves. It's a time for healing, inside and outside and believe me, is the best thing you can do for you and I'm sure the person that is by your side will totally understand and support you.
So I let it rest and I also decided that my year would be a year with no plans. It's funny how no plans can set you free in so many ways! Of course I am blessed to do that since I work from home and I don't have a fixed schedule to follow, but even with so many things to do I just kept living one day at a time and it ended up being a wonderful and chilled year. I begun to study for my health coach degree, conquer the first step completing my Personal training certification, I went to Portugal for some workshops, saw friends and family, I had the road trip of my life with the love of my life and I decided to go plant-based during the Summer - so I guess it wasn't bad-at-all!
After I came from my second trip to Portugal in October I was with my mind completely cleared from the drama I went through. Friends, family and a wonderful supporting husband help a lot, but nothing helps more than believing in yourself and having faith in what life will bring to you.
November begun and the cold arrived in Cleveland announcing one more Christmas for two (we decided to spend it here for the second year) - little did I know that on the morning of November 19th I discovered we would be 3 - one growing inside my belly!
Yes! We're expecting a Summer baby boy, and although the beginning of this adventure was a little bit too anxious - for the obvious reasons - everything went smoothly and almost symptom free. This little one is making my life easy - for now! ahaha
{obrigada por todas as maravilhosas mensagens de parabéns que tenho recebido. fico de coração ainda mais derretido. obrigada por estarem aí}

This is what my lunch typically looks like every single day. A big bowl with all the greens I have in the fridge, some delicious source of protein and a creamy yummy dressing on top.
After soooo many of you asked for this delicious falafel recipe I decided to share it with you so you can see for yourselves how easy and delicious it is! And you do you know you can do this in bulk, save in the fridge or even freeze it for other days to come? Convenient and delicious - that's how it rolls here in my kitchen.
LEt's go to the recipe!
Ingredients (8 falafel)
1 can of organic chickpeas
1 small white or red onion
1 medium garlic clove
one handful of chopped cilantro
a pinch o Himalayan pink salt
a pinch o black pepper
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbs oat flour
a little bit olive or coconut oil for cooking
1. Cut the onion in chunks, put in a food processor, add the rest of the ingredients and pulse until combined (be careful not to turn this into hummus! You should have a textured mixture where you can still see the ingredients)
2. Form small patties with the mixture (you should be able to make around 8 small patties) a set in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes to harden up a little bit.
3. Heat up a non stick pan (I used a non stick non toxic pan for this recipe), coat with some olive or coconut oil and place the patties cooking them for about 5 minutes (low heat) on each side or until golden - you can skip this part and cook them in the oven at 250ºF (180ºC) for aprox. 30 minutes (15 min on each side), but they will turn out a little bit more dry.
4. Serve them with a huge salad! I used some romain lettuce, tomato, red onion and some sauerkraut with some tahini (2 tbs), mustard (1 tsp) and tamari dressing (1 tsp).
I hope you love it!!

One thing we know. Coconut oil has about 95% of fat, and it is, indeed saturated fat! So, is coconut oil saturated fat the same as the animal based saturated fat? Well, no. Most of saturated fat from coconut oil is comprised by large part in lauric acid, making this kind of saturated fat more easily metabolised. So this source of energy is faster than the animal based saturated fat.
So we can all agree that "...plant-basedsaturated fat is healthier than the animal based one." *
But!!!
Is it healthy for you??
Well, as much as we want to believe that shoving a couple of table spoons down our throat every single morning will help us to become healthier or even loose a couple of pounds - there are still not enough studies that prove if it's actually good for us, so...I would say it's better to keep things in moderation!
And let's face it. Coconut oil, is, purely and 100% fat! It doesn't have any nutritional value beyond fat. Do you really want to eat 200 kcal without any nutritional benefits?? don't get me wrong, I love calories, but at least they have to give me what I need: vitamins and minerals to feed my body!

About new year resolutions...I really think we have the capacity to change our habits any time or any day of the year, but I do also know that a year is like a solid block that we grab in the beginning and carve it the best we can until it's end - so the psychological aspect of putting our dreams, plans and new resolutions to a whole new year is still very powerful and will definitely work for some or most of us.
I partnered up with Whole Foods Market 365 to share a "new year new me" full day of eating by creating a menu that could help you to start this January in a simple, delicious and above all, healthy way!
Plus, you already know that I'm all about prepping some food to have in the fridge to keep us from making bad choices and giving us that extra time on a busy work day is also a plus.
This menu is the perfect example of meals that you can just grab from the fridge and eat them right away, with minimal prep!
Before we jump into the recipes let's take a look at the grocery list I did for this full day of eating:

(disponível em português mais a baixo)
Welcome to the first day of the 30 day plant-based challenge!
After several questions about my previous blog post, I decided to share some knowledge with you about supplementation on a plant-based diet.
First, I would like to make a statement here: this is my own unique experience . We are all different from each other and in case you have any doubts you can always talk to your doctor, health coach or dietitian.
After 2 months on a plant-based diet, I decided to ask my family doctor to do some blood tests to see how was everything doing after such a drastic change.
Two days passed and I got the results on my email (here everything is online which is amazing), and I was absolutely amazed, everything was on point! Actually my doctor congratulated me for being so healthy!
So the main questions on these matter are, Iron, Calcium and Vitamin B12. I share with you some of the results that I got.
Iron 105 ug/dL 41 - 186 ug/dL
Ferritin 32.3 ng/mL 14.7 - 205.1 ng/mL
Magnesium 2.1 mg/dL 1.7 - 2.3 mg/dL
Calcium 9.8 mg/dL 8.5 - 10.2 mg/dL
Where do I get my Iron?
Legumes: lentils, white beans, tofu and tempeh. But also pumpkin, sunflower seeds and cashew nuts.
Where do I get my Magnesium?
Beans, oats, cashews, raw cacao, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and chia seeds.
Where do I get Calcium?
So, in this case it gets a little trickier, because some of the richest foods in calcium also have some substances that somehow block the calcium's absorption. I'm talking about some leafy salad greens like spinach, lettuce, arugula, and so on.
The vegetables that are indeed richer in calcium are actually the ones we tend to eat less, like cabbage, kale, collard greens, bok choy and cruciferous.
Sesame seeds are also a good option, but don't think you can make it by just sprinkling some seeds on your salad, no. Try t2 tbs of tahini (sesame paste) for example and you'll get about 12% of you DRD.
Vegetable milks like soy, almond or rice, are usually enriched with calcium (just like cow's milk). Although this is not a natural solution you can rely on these for an easier option.
So, whoever thinks that a plant-based diet can't give you enough of these nutrients, think again. The big secret here is to EAT THE RIGHT WAY (good, whole and healthy food in generous amounts).
Vitamin B12 - the question that I forgot to answer on the last blog post
Well, first let's find out what is B-12 and where does it come from! Vitamin b-12 it's vital to our survival. It helps to build DNA and red blood cells, between other things. Without B-12 we could have serious physical and mental problems. Fatigue, depression, anemia and nerve damage are the main problems caused buy the lack of this vitamin.
Vitamin B-12 comes from the soil, from dirt. Specifically from bacteria that exists in the soil, spring water, rocks. Nature! Animals, plants and even funghi are incapable to produce B-12 on its own, so they rely on Mother Nature for that.
So, for thousands of years, humans and other animals got their B-12 from the soil, "dirty"plants and animal flesh - but, with evolution and until nowadays, we learned how to clean or over clean everything - don't get me wrong, sanitising is awesome to keep dangerous bacteria away from us and prevent disease, but, everything has a bad side and on this case we not only kill bad bacteria, but we also kill the good ones, B-12 being one of them!
It's common to say that B-12 comes from animal flesh, when in fact it actually comes from what the animal eats - meaning dirt. Well, it's not that linear because, as we all know, most animals that are raised as cattle are actually fed soy and corn with vitamin and mineral supplements, and guess what? They are also B-12 fortified. So, for those who say they eat meat to get their B-12, well...think twice on that because you're getting your B-12 from the supplements that the cow, pig, chicken or turkey ate. Even if you only eat grass-fed beef, the vitamin comes from the grass, not from beef.
Between eating meat or taking a weekly or monthly supplement, I choose the second option, since now I am on a plant-based diet.
So, the only supplement I actually take is a B-12 sublingual pill, once a week (because it's more concentrated). And every 6 months or so I schedule some blood tests just to check it all out.
In case you change your diet and you go full plant-based, I advise you to visit your family doctor or dietitian, schedule some blood tests and talk about supplementation.
I hope you like it!

Onde vou buscar o ferro?
A vitamina B12 é fundamental à nossa sobrevivência.

So, as you already know, I've been adopting a plant-based diet for the past 3 months, and now I'm going to tell you all of my thoughts on these matter.
Now, 3 months have passed and, to answer all of your questions, let's start with the million dollar one:
Are you vegan?
Well, no! I am not vegan. As much as I hate labels (!!!) I rather say I'm a reducetarian, mostly plant-based (if that thing even exists) and I'm currently adopting a 100% plant-based diet at home.
So I don't eat meat, fish, eggs and dairy at home, and once in a while I eat fish when I go out to dinner (the ocasional sushi craving) - still working on that. Besides that I'm full plant-based even when I go out - I'm actually really into vegan burgers right now! And Cleveland has an awesome selection on that matter, which is great! My favourite place is Town Hall - the vegan burger in town!
What about your protein?
Ok. Let me tell you one thing: plants have protein!Yes! Not only meat or fish or eggs have protein, plants have it too and it's not just a trace of protein, some of them are packed with protein!
Just to give you a quick list: beans, chickpeas, lentils, oats, peanut butter, almond butter, quinoa, spirulina, soy (tofu, tempeh, seitan) and the list goes on!
Plus, let's be honest, have you ever heard of someone in the western world that is protein deficient? You don't really need that much protein so stop worrying yourself about it!
What about your energy levels?
Raising my hand while saying this. I have never ever ever felt so much energy in my entire life before going plant-based. Plants are way more powerful than animal based foods. I know, I know that meat and eggs are famous for building strong muscle, but, honestly? They are hard to digest, way more heavy, and plants are easier to be absorbed by our body and give us a quick energy boost through the entire day!
Don't you feel deprived?
I actually feel overwhelmed whit all the food that I can eat. Because plants are lower in calories you can actually eat way more than you realize. Sometimes I think that I over ate and when I go and do the math I only ate 1200 kcal (what??). Yes. It's true.
Plus, have you seen the amount and variety of plant you have available?? Are you telling me that a plate like the one in the picture has less variety than meat with rice and salad?
Are you adopting this diet forever?
Most definitely yes. Not only I feel reaaallly amazing and super energetic, but I also feel more conscious and mindful about what I eat. I eat even more whole foods, more organic and not eating animals gives me that kind of positive energy I've never felt. I don't know, I feel that eating animal based foods will somehow put negativity into my body. It might sound weird, but I think it's true!
Let me know what do you think about this post, and if you already made this conscious change, please share. I would love to know your story!
Love,
Sam
E a proteína??
Ok. Vou-te contar uma coisa: as plantas têm proteína! Sim!
Love,
Sam

Back in town after a long month in Portugal! I must say, I was missing this place, my husband, my cat, my house, my homemade recipes! And what better season to return than Fall? The thing I love the most about living in the US is the amazing way we all celebrate each season, and Fall is definitely my favourite! The smell of pumpkin spice everywhere? Who doesn’t love it?
I arrived just on time to teamed up with one of my favourite brands: Whole Foods Market! Yes! My all time favourite place to shop my organic ingredients! And for those who live around the Cleveland area, they just opened a new store in Akron: it’s called Whole Foods Market 365, it’s smaller than the regular Whole Foods Supermarket and offers a simple way to shop for health conscious, high quality food (as always) at great prices! Basically you have a more affordable way to shop for your groceries. Isn’t it great?
So the first thing I always do when I arrive from a long trip is pack my fridge and pantry with my favourite everyday foods. I went to my local Whole Foods Market 365 store (you probably saw some of my instagram stories) and picked up some ingredients to create a pumpkin/fall recipe.
As you already know, my primary goal in the kitchen is to create delicious and healthy but also super quick recipes, easy to eat, and mostly, easy to store in the fridge for my quick next day meal. This one is an all-in-one!
Easy
Delicious
Nutritious
Organic
Seasonal
and also…you can eat it everyday!
How about a nice warm salad with some super fall ingredients?
(scroll down for the recipe!)
Ingredients
Vegetables&fruits
Organic Baby Spinach 365 Everyday Value
Shaved Brussel Sprouts 365 Everyday Value
Butternut squash
Pumpkin
Orange sweet potato
Organic Red Apple
Sweet onion
Baby Bella mushrooms
Organic super Grains 365 Everyday Value
Herbs&spices
Olive oil
Pumpkin spice
Organic fresh thyme
Himalayan pink salt
Slice the onion and cut all the veggies and fruits - leaving the skin on (except the pomegranate). Mix onions, apple, squash and pumpkin in a bowl with some olive oil, salt, garlic powder, pumpkin spice, and fresh thyme. Mix with your hands and spread them evenly on a tray with parchment paper and put it in the oven for 40 min at 350ºF (180ºC) or until tender to the fork.
Add one cup of super grains to two cups of boiling water and simmer for 20 min.
Cook the Brussel sprouts for 3 minutes in boiling water. Drain them and put them in a bowl filled with ice water. Leave it for 3 minutes and drain them again until dry (you can use some paper towels to help to take moisture out).
Slice the mushrooms and seed the pomegranate. Set aside.
Mix the roasted vegetables with the super grains and shaved Brussel sprouts and serve them on a bed of baby spinach. Add the sliced mushrooms and pomegranate seeds.
I seriously hope you make this recipe, it’s definitely a must try!

Whenever I start my day with raw ingredients I feel much more energised and vivid. The power of raw plants is without a doubt the best thing we can take advantage of, specially during the Summer. I always try to follow what my body asks for, and in the Summer it asks for super yummy, cold and fresh smoothie bowls, filled with delicious seasonal fruits and vegetables!
Although it's so easy to make them - I use pretty much whatever I have in my fridge or freezer - I always have a trick or two to make the perfect smoothie bowl.
1 - I always have spinach (already washed and prepared to go on the blender) - because of their bland taste, you can barely notice them when mixed with fruits.
2 - I always add grounded flaxseeds not only because they are rich in Omega 3's (and 2 tbs are equivalent to 200% of your daily dose of omega 3's!!!), but also because they are very rich in fibre and just like chia seeds they have a gelatinous texture when their soaked in water - so your smoothie will be even more thick which is perfect if you're gonna make a smoothie bowl.
3 - I always try to use, at least one frozen fruit - banana, berries or mango are usually what I have in hand. So, whenever your bananas start to get spotty, freeze them right away for your smoothie bowls and you'll notice the extra creaminess! It's worth it!

The best Vegan pancakes

I'm currently on a plant-based challenge - what does this mean? It means I am stuffing myself with vegetables and avoiding any kind of animal product. No, I didn't turn vegan, but I honestly think that these low carb thing got me eating way more meat and eggs than I ever did before, and let's be realistic here - that is not a good thing!
After our road trip I ended up needing some kind of detox from all the Mexican food and Corean barbecue's I ate. I actually stayed on the healthy side when I was on the West Coast, but I don't remember eating a meat or egg free dish during the whole trip. So here I am on my 3rd week as a plant-based and loving it! Specially because it also gives me a whole new refresh on my cooking creative process!
As you already know, I'm a pancake addict so I basically try every kind of ingredient to give them a little twist! These ones are really easy to make and the secret behind the batter is flaxseed! Somehow flaxseed behaves like chia seeds and becomes gelatinous in contact with water, so it kind of resembles the egg texture. It's pretty cool!
Ingredients ( 6 medium pancakes)
120g oat flour
2 tbs grounded flaxseeds (plus 2 tbs water)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 scoops of french vanilla plant based protein powder from Orgain
1/2 cup almond mil1/2 tsp coconut oil
Pre-heat a non stick pan and put it on low heat. To make the flaxseed "egg" mix the flaxseed and the water and wait for 5min until you have a gelatinous texture (like raw egg white). Mix the oat flour into a bowl, add, the protein powder, the cinnamon, the baking soda and the flaxseed "egg". Add the almond milk and whisk until you have a thick batter - add more almond milk if necessary.
Add the coconut oil to the skillet and cook the pancakes until you finish the batter.
Serve with your favourite fruits! I love them with berries and maple syrup! Yum!
Hope you like it!

Love,
Sam
Yum!
Espero que gostes!

I was never a big fan of tofu. I always thought it was bland, weird textured and basically not fun at all to eat. Well, since I had my plant based challenge I decided to give it a try and I must say that now I'm a tofu fan!
So basically the secret of these wraps it's how I cooked the tofu, or how I marinated it! Tofu has a secret, it absorbs all the flavours you add to it, and the best way to do it is to do a marinade! I usually go for a overnight marinade, but you can also do it for 30min - but remember- the more it sits in the sauce, the more flavourful it'll become!
This is the perfect dish for any meal you desire!
(scroll down para português)
Ingredients (for 2)
4 wraps (I used Tumaro's low carb tomato basil wraps)
4 hand of baby spinach
1 cup of bean sprouts
1/2 cup of alfalfa sprouts
1/2 cup of green lentils
1/2 red onion
400g tofu (firm and non gmo)
2 tbsp of liquid aminos (or tamari, or soy sauce)
1 tsp of sesame oil
sprinkle black sesame seeds
Sauce
1 avocado
1 lime
1 tsp mustard
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp water
note: this sauce it's supposed to have a creamy texture
Take the tofu out of the package and souk the extra liquid with a kitchen towel by pressing gently on both sides. Cut the tofu in small cubes and place them in a bowl. Add the liquid aminos, mix it until all the tofu is coated with it. Set aside for 30min or overnight in the fridge.
Heat a non stick pan and cook the tofu adding a little bit os sesame oil. Cook it until crispy brown.
Heat the wraps on a skillet for 20 sec on each side. Make the sauce by blending all the ingredients on a blender or mix it in a bowl. Place the wraps on a tray and start to build them up with the rest of the ingredients! First the sauce, then the spinach, and so on!
Hope you like it!

Ingredients (for 2)
4 wraps (os que vocês mais gostarem)
4 mãos cheias de espinafre baby
1 chávena de rebentos de feijão
1/2 chávena de rebentos de alfalfa
1/2 chávena de lentilhas verdes (já cozinhadas)
1/2 cebola roxa
400g tofu (firme)
Pré-aquece o forno a 180º.

O meu jejum intermitente - PARTE I / MY Intermittent Fasting - Part I

Ora vamos lá falar do "elephant in the room"!
So, let's go and talk about "the elephant in the room! What is Intermittent fasting?
I decided to share my experience, not to convince you to adopt this strategy, I'm not a dietitian or nutritionist and I don't think this would even fit everyone, but after so many requests to share my journey, here I am ready to give you all the details.
This share will be long, so I decided to split the post in 3 or 4 parts so you don't feel overwhelmed with all the information I'm sharing.
I've been studying and reading about IF for a long time - and by long time I mean 2 years minimum. This is a strategy, and I repeat, a strategy, not a diet, that consists in fasting for a long period of time during the day, ie, we don't eat during those hours.
This can be scary to a lot of you, specially those who believe that we should all be eating every 3 hours. But, if we look really closely to our daily habits, we will probably realize that we all fast, in a way - during the night when we're sleeping. We fast on average for 8 hours depending on the last time we ate and on the first time we will eat after waking up - when we'll be breaking-the-fast!
This strategy simply consists on stretching the number of hours of our fast, diminishing the so called "feeding window". The most famous approach is the 16-8 fast, ie, 16 hours fasting and 8 hours eating (not literally but you know what I mean).
So, imagine you finish your dinner at 8pm and you'll go all the way till 2pm from the next day without eating, and then you have from 2 pm till 8pm to have your meals. There are several different fasting schedules with smaller feeding windows with 4 or even 2 hours, and there are the 24h, 2 day or even 1 week fasts, but that's a whole other championship - and definitely not for me.
And you say:
"But, that's impossible, I can't live without my breakfast!"
Very well, you can always skip your dinner and break your fast earlier.
"But, not having dinner? I also can't live without my dinners"
You can also don't use IF in your life. This is no secret to eternal life. It's simply an approach like so many others that can also be valid. It's a nutritional strategy used in many fields, and with many goals, mostly weight loss, body composition balance and appetite control.
And you ask:
"But, appetite control?? If I'm going to stay fasted for 16 hours there's no way I'll be able to control my appetite! I will probably eat every single think in my fridge because I will be starving!"
Well, this is exactly the point I wanted to focus on. IF is not ONLY about not eating for a large period of hours and then going back to your junk food within those 8 hours you have left to feed yourself. It's much more than that. It's very important that you already have a notion of what is healthy and what is not, and, specially, is extremely important to have a good relationship with food and be aware that fast food will not help you to achieve your main goals.
So, if you're one of those extra-Large-burger-with-fries-and-coke-ending-with-a-sundae kind of person when you're starving, it's probably best that you learn how to eat proper food first and forget the fast for now.
If you already have good and healthy eating habits, don't suffer form any chronic disease, you're not pregnant, not breast feeding, not taking any special medications, and, most of all, don't suffer from any emotional food disorders, you can always give it a try!
Of course I strongly recommend your to seek professional help from someone who knows about this approach!
(part II will be out tomorrow where I share how I do my IF)
I usually eat this at night. As a dessert or even as a late night snack. don't have many words to describe it. Just try it at home and let me know what you think.

7 ways to relief muscle soreness

There's the leg day, and then there's the day after leg day! The day when sitting is painful, getting up is almost impossible and going down the stairs make us look like a newborn horse trying to give his first steps.
We all had those sore days especially after going for a long period of time without working out - and by longe I say 2 or 3 weeks. Yes, our body is just like Dory (the fish), forgets. really. too damn. quickly!!
Anyway. As you already might know - because of what happened to me - I have been out of the gym for almost 2 months. By out of the gym I mean not doing those workouts I really enjoy - strength or HIIT training. I've been doing some low steady cardio and that's it. My heart is amazing but my muscles...oh, my friend, they feel like gelatine and I am not kidding!
So whenever I'm going trough this painful days I always have a couple of tricks on my sleeve that make me feel somehow, better!
Here they are:
Stretch
Well, this is definitely the number one rule. After a strength training you have to stretch! Try to save 5 or 10 minutes to cool down and stretch after your workout. If you don't have the time you can always stretch in the shower- we all do that after a workout right? So, no excuses!
Cardio
I know, the last thing you want to do is move right? Wrong. Actually you should move. A light steady cardio will pump your blood and help to relief the pain. Trust me, you will feel better after at leat 30min of cardio - walking, elliptical, bike, light running - nothing with too much impact.
Foam roll
The magic roll! Yes, although this roll is supposed to be used much more often than we use it, it is the ultimate technique to relief muscle soreness. It just feels like a massage that helps cleaning out some of the lactic acid that builds up in your muscles during exercise - and that acid is exactly the main responsible for your weird way of walking!
Cold shower
I know, cold shower who the hell likes it? But if you try doing this right after your strength training, you will thank me! The colder the better! Cold works by lowering the damaged tissue's temperature and locally constricting blood vessels. It also helps numb nerve endings, providing you with instant pain relief. Ice packs work too if you have a specific area that's extra sore.
Cold cream
Just like the cold shower, applying a cold cream on the sore areas will help to relief the pain.
Auto- massage (or ask someone)
Try to do a massage on the affected areas with the cold cream. Round movements going towards the lymph nodes. Both combined will help to clean up the fluid (lactic acid).
Hydrate
Water water water! The more water you drink the better you're body will flux out that fluid, and the less swelling you develop.
Cardio
I know, the last thing you want to do is move right? Wrong. Actually you should move. A light steady cardio will pump your blood and help to relief the pain. Trust me, you will feel better after at leat 30min of cardio - walking, elliptical, bike, light running - nothing with too much impact.
Rolo
O rolo mágico! Sim!
Creme frio

Back on track with my favourite podcasts!

Finally I'm back with my workouts!!
After 2 months barely moving I feel like a jelly squid ( and almost transparent because the sun here doesn't shine very often). As you already know from the post I shared last week, I had surgery, and even if it wasn't a huge one it was a abdominal surgery. The first post-op week was the hardest - I was literally feeling like a balloon from the huge amount of water retention I was having - anaesthesia and pain killers have this amazing symptom. And I also couldn't laugh, coff and whenever I sneezed it was like someone was stabbing me with a very sharp knife.
Patience, loads of liquids (tea and water) and healthy food was my secret trifecta to recover properly. I've done a couple os walks outside and whenever the weather permitted, but I'm also one of those that has to come out of the gym really sweaty and tires or else I haven't done my job. Loads os patience were needed for me to be able to walk on the treadmill on level 6.
Of course I needed a little help to entertain myself while on the treadmill so I got kind of addicted to podcasts. Yes, they're the best! I hardly listen to music during my workouts now and for those who want to upgrade their workout sessions I highly recommend starting to listen to some podcasts or audiobooks. I ear the podcasts on youtube or Itunes and the audiobooks on Audible (an app from Amazon, where I buy the audiobooks). Regarding the themes, well, my favourite ones are nutrition, workout, body and mental performance. Some of them might seem a little to scientific, but well, my father was scientist so I got that from him and I really enjoy listening to these kind of themes with scientific detailed explanations.
But honestly, the feeling of cultivating my body and my mind at the same time is priceless!
My favourite podcasts

Let me know what your favourite ones are!!

Finalmente voltei a treinar!!

{Scroll down for english}
Love,
Sam
(warning: it's a long and a little graphic text)
I've been away (from the blog) for a little while and now I feel that it's the right moment to share something with you. It does not have to do with healthy food, fitness or nutrition, but I kind of think this blog is meant to share whatever I feel like sharing. A free zone where we can talk about pretty much anything. I really want to share this story with you because I really think it will help not only other women but also couples that go through similar bad experiences, such as this one.
It's been a little more than one month that I had, probably, the worst experience of my life. I lost a baby. Yes, I was pregnant. I didn't tell anyone (except my husband of course) because it was still very soon. I found out in December, just before Christmas - and what a nice Christmas gift, I thought!
I felt happy but at the same time I was a little bit scared, first, it was going to be my first baby, second, I'm away from all of my friends and family - except for my husband I don't really have anyone close in Cleveland - and last, I wasn't planning getting pregnant, for now, and that doesn't mean I wasn't happy about it because I was.
I heard the more you plan the worst it is, in this kind of things. But I was never a planner so I kind of identified myself with the unexpected event. As soon as I found out, I instantly embraced the idea of becoming a mom, even thinking that would might not be the right time - well...it never is, right? Especially for a independent person like me.
I rapidly educated myself on everything to do with pregnancy, babies, moms, what to expect, what to do, how to organize, what to eat, what to drink - literally everything around the life of mom-to-be.
I must confess I got quite obsessed and binged watch all pregnancy youtube videos and blogs, and even found myself looking for pregnancy clothes online. Anyway, I bet wasn't the only one devoting to this crazy research.
OB appointments, here in the US, are not schedule until the 8th to 10th weeks so I didn't have the chance to do one. I scheduled a G appointment that confirmed that I was 4 weeks pregnant from a blood test and that was it.
There was a symptom that bothered me since the very beginning - blood spotting. The Doctor said it was normal, specially in the beginning of the pregnancy, and if I didn't feel any pain it should be fine.
Three weeks passed and I was still having blood spotting until my belly began to bloat in a weird way. Instead of looking 7 weeks pregnant, witch means: no belly bump yet, I looked like 20 weeks! It was huge.
One afternoon I start feeling a huge pain all over my belly (really sharp, just like knifes stabs). I went to the emergency room and suddenly I was ok again, just feeling a mild cramp. In fact I was so "ok" that I had to wait for 4 hours to be admitted - little did I know what was going to happen. I probably should've acted more dramatic, but I was honestly feeling better. I guess they thought I was just curious to meet the baby (actually, waiting until the 10th week was making me crazy).
As soon I entered the ER I was treated like a princess. After 557 thousand staff members (I'm probably magnifying it a little bit) entered my room to check my vital signs, do some blood tests and check on my problem, I was told I was having an ectopic pregnancy - the embryo was growing in the wrong place, in my case it was growing inside one of my tubes that eventually erupted.
After one hour crying myself out (and a full night without sleeping. It was 5am and I was there since 10pm) they took me to the operating room. 45 minutes later I woke up in another room where they told me that they had to take out one tube and also about 0,5 litter of blood of my belly - and that was the cause of that excruciating pain - after that I came to the conclusion I probably have some viking genes due to my high level of pain tolerance.
Thanks to the evolution of science and technology they were able to do a laparoscopic intervention, living just 3 little incisions in my belly with about half an inch each.
My surgery was at 8am and by 1pm, I was at home, having sushi for lunch (sorry, but I had to award myself somehow).
Everything was so fast and sudden, I must confess I was feeling kind of numb in the first couple of days. Despite the normal bloatiness from the surgery, it felt like nothing happened. In fact I was in shock and at the same time trying to react the best way to my loss. Yes, it was a loss. Just because I didn't see the baby I was expecting, I was growing a life inside of me, I was waiting for my first child and I had been dealing with that for more than 1 month. Even when everyone tells you that your not suppose to feel anything, just because it's an early pregnancy and anything can happen, it doesn't mean that you won't feel it, right?
Two weeks passed and I went to the doctor to have a check up. Thankfully my rehab was amazing - healthy food and a lot patient helped a lot - not been able to work out kind of messed up a little bit.
I got to know that the fact that they only took out one tube (instead of the tube and ovary) was good for my hormonal balance and I was also glad to know that I was able to get pregnant again.
Now, we are at the beginning of March, and one thing is definitely true - there's nothing like time to relief the pain of someone that goes through this kind of unfortunate experience. It's normal to cry (I cried a lot, specially by myself), it's also normal feeling incapable, it's normal to feel...abnormal, it's normal to feel wounded and sad. It is normal. And the truth is, this things happen much more than we can imagine - there are a lot of women going through this pain, suffering in silence, Feeling guilt and afraid that they might be the only one's. Believe me, they are not. And I am just one more giving my statement.
I know that this kind of subjects are still considered a tabu nowadays. I honestly can't understand why. Ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, infertility, they are subjects that should be discussed, that should be shared. We all should share our story in order to help each other and become more united, to feel more supported, more...normal!
And remember, you are not the only one, and everything is going to be ok.
Love,
Sam

Ok. I really think I am getting addicted on this and, seriously, I'm not joking, this is probably the easiest, most delicious and totally guilt free snack I've ever made!
I must confess, I'm a kale lover, but sometimes I get a little bit annoyed to eat it raw in my salads, and, let's face it, salads with snow outside don't match, right?
Whoever invented this recipe is a total genius and I have been putting my oven to work pretty much every single day so I can drown myself in a bowl of kale chips - yes..chips!! - while watching my favourite tv show (btw, "The man in the high castle" fyi).
They are crispy, they melt in your mouth...they are soooo delicious!
Oh, and you know what? You can actually store them for a week in a airtight container - if you are brave enough to do that, I can't seem to leave any remains of my chips to store them, especially for a whole week!
Hope you like it!
Love,
Sam
Ok.
Love,
Sam
Ingredients
1/2 lb Kale
1 tbs olive oil
1 tsp Sriracha or hot sauce
1 pinch Himalayan pink salt
1. Start by prepping the kale by taking of it's stems and break it into small pieces - wash them gently with some water and soak them with a kitchen towel or some paper.
2. Place the kale in a bowl and drizzle with the olive oil, Himalayan pink salt and the chilli flakes - mix everything with your hands.
3. Place a the kale on a tray covered with some parchment paper and put it in the oven at 350ºF for about 20 minutes or until crispy - take a look once in a while so they don't get burned.
4. Take the tray out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
Ingredientes
250g kale
1 colher de sopa de azeite
1 colher de chá de picante (à escolha)
1 pitada de sal rosa dos Himalaias
2. Coloca a kale numa tigela e tempera com azeite, sal e picante - envolve tudo com as mãos.
So, for today I thought that you might need a little extra push for a healthy week motivation so I decided to post this super easy and suuupersimple salad that's been conquering my heart lately.
It is perfect by itself, but also as a side dish for some grilled fish or meat! Excellent source of iron, fibre, healthy fats, omega 3's and a little tinny bit of parmesan cheese that makes all the diference!
Hope you like it!
Ingredients
2 handful of spinach
10 walnuts (crushed in pieces)
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
some fresh grated parmesan cheese (the older the better)
Heat a skillet and add the walnuts. Roast them on low heat until they start to release their aroma (don't burn them). Place the baby spinach in a bowl, season with olive oil, vinegar, add the walnuts and finish with some grated parmesan cheese!
And voilá! That's it! Heaven in a bowl in 5 minutes!

Hey hey hey!!! Happy New Year!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season enjoying every moment with your family and friends! I must admit my month was a little different because I spent it here in Cleveland, away from my family. Thank God I have my husband right by my side and we definitely made the best of it with some vacation - we went to Dominican Republic in the beginning of December, my birthday was right after we arrived and then Christmas and NYE were spent with some local friends that are living near by. Although I was a little bit emotional from being away from my family and best friends I think we did have fun and managed to cook some really delicious (not very healthy) recipes to commemorate!
Anyway! Here I am back on track, as we all are right??? I brought you a really easy and delicious super protein smoothie bowl that I've been making every morning! Hope you like it!
Ingredients
1 scoop of organic whey (unflavoured) from Vital Proteins
1 scoop of vegan vanilla protein from Orgain
1/2 avocado
5 strawberries (frozen)
10 raspberries (frozen)
200ml water
Sugested toppings
Dehydrated strawberries
Chia seeds
Almond butter
Blend all the ingredients until smooth, serve it in a bowl and tp it with your favourite toppings! How easy is that?
Love,
Sam
Olá Olá Olá!! Feliz ano novo!!

Sam

Washed Rocks
This is a new shoe brand that I was introduced to and...I just felt in love with all of their shoes! They are designed in New York and made in Portugal. I'm probably suspicious here but I really think that every shoe that is made in Portugal is the best quality shoe you can get. Trust me, if you find a tag saying that your shoes were made in Portugal you made the right purchase! You know, as photographer and recipe developer I stand a lot during the day so I'm am not a heels kind of girl. Check out their website to see the rest of the models. BUY THEM HERE
I always always always use SPF protection on my face, but sometimes I just want a light makeup or no make up at all and some moisturisers are very greasy - so I found this mineral powder to finish my makeup or to just put on my face without any other product and I must say I'm really happy with it! It's comfortable and you don't even notice it! Oh, and did I mention you can were it for your outdoor workouts? Yes! Actually that's it's main purpose. A lightweight, water- and sweat-resistant mineral powder sunscreen with SPF 30 and skin-friendly ingredients in refillable, washable, twist brush, witch is very practical to have it in your purse! Comprem aqui

The perfect sports bra!

With all the sports apparel brands that are growing we often get confused when choosing the perfect sports bra for our workout.
I have one rule when it comes to using sports bras:
If you're going to perform a high impact workout, no matter the size of your boobs, you really have to opt for a really high quality one!
I got to know Dama de Copasfrom a cousin of mine that works for the brand and from a couple of friends that swear by their super high-tec bras that promise to support the boobs on every bouncy occasion! They don't sell online - witch you probably think is not very normal - because they actually are specialists in bra fitting, so you have to go there to find out your real bra size. Well but we all know our bra size don't we? Well, not really...
Actually, 34% of women in the whole world don't know their bra size. 99% of them use the wrong size!! Yes! And actually most of the stores don't sell every size witch this brand does!
They actually have sizes from 28 to 46 and cups that go from A to...K!!! So yes, they do sell every size but you have to go there for a bra fitting. So, if you ever go to Europe on vacation or work, I recommend one trip to Lisbon, Porto or Madrid to do that! Trust me, it will be worth it!
But I'm here to share with you their most wanted sports bra they have! And what is the difference between this bra and the other brand's bras - you ask? Well, this one actually encapsule each breast in a individual capsule that prevents the movement and also prevents any pressure avoiding that horrible squishing feeling.
I felt in love with this hot pink one and I must say is super comfortable and very efective when I run, jump or do some kind of HIIT.
I also really like this brand because of their values. They are specialist in dealing with breast cancer patients and have specific bras for that purpose. They also use "real women" as models and they really believe every one of us is beautiful not only on the inside but also on the outside!
As a curvy lady myself I must admit they got me on this one :)

I have been getting too many amazing gifts in my mail box (not complaining!) with so many products to try at home, so I decided to start a "Favorites of the month" monthly (of course) post so you can be updated with the newest healthy/beauty/fashion trends that I love the most!
On this post I'm sharing my October favourites (a little bit lat eI know, but you get to have the November post in two weeks!!) I decided to share 3 products and 1 recipe that I've been doing almost every single day.
Anyway let's start with the first yummy novelty:
THRIVE by GoMacro
Remember when I told you that some snacks are loaded with hidden sugars, even though they are made with healthy ingredientes? Since I've been avoiding sugar in all types of forms, It's been kind of difficult to find snacks to grab and go - let's say olives are not very practical although they make a perfect healthy fat snack, and sometimes nuts can be a liiiitle bit on the boring side. Anyway, GoMacro sent me this new energy bars made with 100% natural and organic ingredients, but the best of all - they are really low in sugar and taste like heaven! I tried 3 flavours, caramel coconut, chocolate sea salt and chocolate peanut butter and I must say, you can really tell the diference. They are satisfying and give you energy throughout the day without making you crave for sweets.

My vegan coconut cinnamon latte
Well, let's just say this has been my bff during afternoon work hours. So simple and yet sooo delicious. Just grab a mug, add 3 tbs of thick coconut milk, add a long shot of expresso and finish with some cinnamon on top. You will be amazed!
Vital Proteins Collagen Whey
Well, I've been reading that collagen will be the new wheat grass! Good for skin, hair and nails. Help to keep your skin really tight, preventing wrinkles and slows down the aging process!
This brand is on the verge of collagen products and I must say this Whey is absolutely delicious! It has colllagen and hialuronic acid and the chocolate and coconut water and coconut water flavour is my favourite for sure. The smoothie I share with you here is one of the many recipes you can add this delicacy to.

You know I'm all about natural products in my beauty regime. You can see some of my tips here. This is a new brand of natural beauty that I absolutely love! It is a natural essencial oil bodycare system especially developed for active people, like you and me! They have so many great products, but my favourites are the peppermint and bergamot lip balm (it's peeeerfect to keep my lips protected in the winter) and the Oily skin face oil made with rice bran and tea tree oil (love the smell and my skin never looked so fresh and healthy).

THRIVE by GoMacro

My vegan coconut cinnamon latte
Vais ficar viciada/o!
Vital Proteins Collagen Whey

WILL
Estou viciada neste óleo e no batom!
I know this is not the perfect picture and usually I try not to share Instagram pictures that aren't good enough for the blog, but honestly, the most important thing here is to share information and healthy good quality recipes to simplify your daily routines.
This is, honestly one of my favourite recipes of the month. Soooo simple, low carb, packed with nutrients ad healthy fats and really really satiating.
Ingredients
1 zucchini
1/2 red onion
1 medium tomato
1/2 cup of marinara sauce (organic and with no added sugar)
1 tsp garlic powder
salt and black pepper
olives
sunflower seeds
sliced almonds
1 tsp coconut oil
a drizzle of truffle extra virgin live oil (optional but it's definetely worth it!))
Spiralize the zucchini into noodles and set aside. Sauté the onions on coconut oil until tender, add the chopped tomato and the mariana sauce and let it cook for 15 minutes on low heat. Season with some garlic powder, sea salt and black pepper to taste. Cook the zucchini noodles in boiling water for 2 minutes, drain and mix them with the previous sauce. Serve with the olives, sunflower seeds, almonds and a drizzle of truffle extra virgin olive oil.
Espiralizar a curgette e reservar.

This has been my number one go-to smoothie bowl breakfast (recipe down below)
As probably some of you already know, I've been adopting a lower carb higher good quality fat diet lately and it's been great so far! No more bloating, more mental focus (as you know healthy fats are fundamental for your brain to function properly) and no more sugar cravings.
I've been following some amazing professionals in this area that believe that eating more quality fat, less high carb food and more vegetables is the secret to be healthy and stay in shape. I will share my readings with you later.
We all know that fat was demonised and everything became fat free (high sugar) for the sake of our lean bodies. We were taught to believe that fat makes us fat, when the real reason we are overweight is because we eat too much sugar and we combine it with fat.
Fat is actually good for us and if we eat fat alone, or combined with a little bit of protein it shouldn't make us fat.
My top brunch choice are these eggs with zucchini and turmeric (recipe down below)
Let me tell you a little bit about the science I've been studying: Our bodies are smart, and by smart I mean they work the best way so they spend the less amount of energy possible in less time. Our body uses sugar and fat as energy as we all know, but the easiest source to use (the one that actually makes our body spend less energy in the process) is sugar that comes from carbs. Fat is a source of energy too, but because the complicated process that our body has to perform in order to get the energy from fat he chooses sugar over fat as the main source of quick and easy energy - isn't that smart? Yes. But unfortunately we rarely eat carbs all alone, and we tend to combine them with fat (french fries, toast with butter, cheese and bread, pizza, etc), so what do you think happens to fat when you eat it with sugar? Yes, it gets stored in our bodies. Amazing right? (not)
Ora pois bem, ela é acumulada no nosso corpo! Incrível não é? (nem por isso)
So what if we start using fat as the main energy source?
I suggest you to read an amazing book by the amazing Dr. Mark Hyman "Get Fat get thin". He is a Functional Medicine MD (coincidentally at the Cleveland Clinic, how about that?) that is on the verge of this curious nutritional approach.
He believes in adopting a Pegan diet (as he says). It's a diet based on a paleo and a vegan approach. Lots of vegetables, lots of healthy fats, moderate protein and low carb ingredients. Of course everything must be organic and the protein must be fish or meat - any kind as long as the fish is wild-caught and the meat is grass-fed.
The benefits I've been getting have been great so far
Less bloating
More mental focus
Shiny hair
Healthy skin
Less (muuuuch less) sugar cravings
Regular apetite
I don't need to make more than 3 meals a day
Very regular gut health
Funcionamente intestinal super regular
Here are two of my favourite breakfast recipes so far, one for those sweet tooth days and another for late a breakfast.

3 organic eggs

As you know I'm not an MD nor a dietitian, I'm just an enthusiast and curious about everything that evolves a healthy lifestyle, and I love to challenge my body by trying new approaches on exercise and diet and I actually found this one a very easy one to maintain.
I believe that all of us should be more informed and educated by searching (carefully) the literature online or not in order to help to build personal consciousness.
If you have any doubts or any kind of health issue I advise you to see a professional so he or she can help you solve your problems.

It is obvious that a foodie/food photographer/recipe developer and everything food related enthusiast like me is kind of addicted to table ware. I can honestly say that I spend more money on plates than on shoes. Guilty as charged! Everyone has a thing! Mine just happen to be plates, mugs and kitchen props.
As more suspicious it may sound right now, I find Portugal, my dear country, one of the best places to find good quality/beautiful and really affordable table ware.
When I found this store called "Cerâmicas da Linha" I felt in heaven and lost myself inside their aisles filled with gorgeous and colourful ceramics.
Although it was really hard to choose between such an amazing selection, I felt in love with these white and blue collection - somehow it reminded me the sea in my hometown. What do you think about this amazing breakfast table?
Menu
Granola Trinca, coconut yogurt and grilled peaches&plums with almond butter and basil
Green salad
Banana raspberry oat bread (recipe soon on the blog)
Coffee with a dash of almond milk
Black tea
Honey/Almond butter and pumpkin seeds
* there are 2 stores in Portugal, one in Oeiras and another one in Chiado. Take a look if you ever visit Lisbon, Portugal!

I was born in Cascais, a small Portuguese village by the sea. I lived there for 26 years and I always say that I want to live there again when I'm old and gray.
I may sound suspicious but this is definitely the place of my dreams and I dare to say that there is nothing that I would change on these magic little town.
When I moved to Cleveland I choose a special place to spend my last weekend in Portugal, a wonderful Hotel called Grande Real Villa Itália located, well...you know where.
I have spend countless nights in countless hotels and I always in include this one on my Top 3.
Where should I start? Well, first of all the stunning view from the huge and cozy bedrooms, the amazing staff and - I know you probably wont believe me on this one - the food is remarkable! Yes. Everything tastes so delicious that you will feel at your mom's home again.
They serve an outstanding brunch on the weekends with creamy risottos and fresh pastry that makes you want to stay there the entire afternoon. I would save some space for a home-made creme brullé, ricotta pumpkin and walnut or pastel de nata ice-cream at the end - all made from fresh ingredients from our most famous desserts! They are to dye for!
I also tried the Talassa circuit at the Spa with a relaxation massage and oh my...I could live there for sure.
As you may already know I was back in Portugal this October and of course, I couldn't say goodbye without spending at least one night at this little gem!
The photos are from both stays and I'm sure they won't be the last ones.
I just love my town!
Adoro a minha terra!
The brunch is available to everyone (not only for guests)
